Welcome to 'Listen To The Sirens' a blog based site that aims to share some quality live Gary Numan recordings and Numan related artists. For a number of years I have run a similar site that is focused on The Stranglers (Aural Sculptors). This Numan based site, like the Stranglers one, is absolutely non-profit making. All recordings are shared freely for and by like minded fans. Similarly, no official material will appear on this site. Go and buy it/download it legitimately and support the artist.

DeMontfort Hall Leicester 6th October 1983

Here's one from 35 years ago to the day from Leicester's DeMontfort Hall as the 'Warrior' tour rolled into town. This was the first tour that I saw him on (in Brighton) having narrowly missed out on Wembley. As UK tours go this was a pretty big one.

Not Numan I know, but a band with a lot of cross-over appeal and the odd borrowed keyboard player. Here's a set from a 1981 outdoor festival in South London. A great little Vienna/Rage In Eden era set.

Martin Mills on BBC Radio 4's 'Zeitgeist'

Sorting through the hard drive I came across this short recording from BBC Radio 4's 'Zeitgeisters' series which focused on individuals that had had a profound influence on popular culture. The subject of this particular episode was Martin Mills as who you all know started (along with Nick Austin) a small independent record label by the name of Beggars Banquet. I just love it for the fact that it meant that The Lurkers got played on Radio 4. May be of interest to some of you:

Santa Monica Civic Auditorium 9th March 1980

No this gig has some significance for me. Not that I was there or anything like that. For a start I was 11 years of age and 5,500 miles distant from the gig. No, a version of this gig was to be the first vinyl bootleg I acquired. Entitled 'Transcript' it cost me £9 from 'Wax Factor' record shop in Brighton. £9 to me then was a Kings ransom! This is another version of the transcription disc broadcast on US radio back in the day.

Enjoy this slice of magic from Numan's first US tour.
